The library offers many services in addition to the renting of books and movies. Our services include, but aren’t limited to: Free Wi-Fi and computer access, printing, and notarizing documents. Click below for a full list of library services.


Catalog
The library also carries an extensive collection of fiction and nonfiction books, including popular novels, paperbacks, westerns, and mysteries. Large print books, audio books, and DVDs for both children and adults are also available. You can access the online catalog below.
Donate
Our library is a non -profit 501-3(c). We operate primarily on donations and grants, supplemented by funds from the city and county. Book donations can be made in honor or in memory of an individual. Used books, videos, audio books, and DVDs that are in mint or near mint condition are gladly accepted as donations. We at J.R. Huffman Public Library greatly appreciate all donations, monetary and otherwise.


The J. R. Huffman Public Library is located in Hemphill, Sabine County, Texas. The library opened its doors in 1994, and began as a grass-roots effort by local residents and was started through the generosity of Al and Pat Smith and the Temple Foundation.

When do I have to return my books and videos?
Books must be returned or renewed within 14 business days, audios within 21, and videos within 7. Media from the “New Arrivals” section may only be checked out for 3 business days and cannot be renewed.
How do I get a library card?
Getting a library card is simple and easy! You only need to come into the library with a valid ID and ask. J. R. Huffman Library will issue you one for free.
How do I put a hold on a book?
If you come to check out a book that is currently checked out to another person, you can ask the library to hold it for you when it is checked in. Holds will typically last around a week before the book is returned to the shelf.
Can I renew my borrowed books?
Of course! Books and videos can be renewed either in person at the library, by email, or by phone call. Renewing your borrowed media resets your due date to start on the day of renewal.
How much does it cost to print copies?
Printing copies typically costs $0.25 per black and white page and $1.00 per color page. To see a full list of pricing, see our library services page
Do you offer computer classes that I can take?
Absolutely! We offer free courses that are available at any time from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Throughout the courses, you would learn how to operate Windows OS, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.
